Invited to an Indian wedding? Wear a Saree!

Dear All!

It seems like the bridal season has taken over!
I recently received a lot of calls and texts from some friends asking me what to wear for the weddings that they got invited to. Most of them were asking me about the perfect outfits for their friends' Indian weddings! I felt important. I know that among my friends I'm the one who knows the most about it.

I suggested to all of them to wear sarees for two reasons: the first one is that not only the wedding sarees, but all sarees are incredibly beautiful IMHO; the second one is that I think that for a European girl wearing a saree for a special event is more exciting as compared to wearing a Lehenga or a Salwar.
Lehengas and Salwars can be considered as a particular kind of skirt or dress, while a saree is a unique garment!

The styles above are two sarees by Siddartha Tytler (Left and Right) and a wedding saree by Raakesh Agarvwal. They are available on Strand of Silk's website!

PS: If you are looking for your perfect style for your friend's wedding, don't forget the right accessories!  Wedding Clutches are a must have this season!

See you soon for the next stylish advices!

How to Choose your Indian Wedding Jewellery

Hi everyone!

Today I wanted to give you some advices to choose the right jewels for your different occasions which are in a traditional Indian wedding with:

1. The engagement
2. The civil
3. The traditional

For example, for the engagement, we need to be more focus on the rings because it is the most important  jewel for this occasion. You can combine it with a necklace and a bracelet of course, but keep always in mind one thing, the colour of your jewels needs to match with your dress.

For the Civil ceremony, simple jewellery is recommended, but you add the Tiara, which give more the bridal effect.

Finally, for the traditional part, you need to choose the right style of jewellery, as you known the traditional Indian wedding colours are red or gold, so depending of which dress you wear, anarkalis, lehengas or a saree. The indian jewellery needs to correspond with your clothes, it is a complement of your look.

Indian Wedding Invitations

Alongside with choosing your Indian bridal wear for the big day, another crucial detail to think about is your invitation card.

First, decide the budget you can allow to that matter, according to how important it is to you.

Second, you have to set the mood: is it going to be a formal or a casual wedding? In between? Funny, with a theme, or yet again something completely different and innovative?
Your card has to reflect that spirit, as this is your guests’ first impression that counts. You can’t get your guests to see what your wedding is really about - once the day has arrived - if they are not here, can you?

Once you’ve decided all that, you have to choose between a range of quality, font, colours and modern or traditional designs.

Another possibility is to replace or combine a paper card with an animated wedding website, with email and Facebook invitations.

Go ahead and have fun!

Today, we will disclose to you the meaning of the Blue tones, and show you some beautiful creations from the best Indian Bridal Clothes designers that match such themes!

This light blue Bridal Lehenga is the symbol of the pureness and loyalty of the bride. A wedding in light blue tones is what the couple chooses to communicate the truth and faith of their relationship, as well as its stability.

Dark blues are the perfect colors to represent the meeting of serenity and strength that the bridal union is meant to give to the couple.

The light blue Lehenga in the first picture is a piece of a wedding collection by Siddartha Tytler.
The dark blue one is a digitally printed Lehenga by Narendra Kumar, an interesting modern reinterpretation of the traditional garment.

You said "Beautiful"?

When you think of an Indian wedding, the first blurry image that pops in your head is probably of a black-haired girl in a bridal lengha. If you go deeper, you eventually start visualising all the body and face decorations as well as the hairstyle and accessories she is wearing. “Beautiful” might come to your mind, or “if only I could do that kind of make-up…”.

Well you can, or rather you will once you follow the great courses of the Ash Kumar Beauty Academy (given as example, any other quality school would do the trick). You can undertake henna, make-up and hair courses separately, according to what you’re looking for.

This is your chance of becoming a pro!
