Anushree Reddy’s New Collection Inspired By Kalki’s Indian Bridal Wear

We all know that Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap tied the knot in 2011.
But did you know that her Indian bridal wear was the inspiration for designer Anushree Reddy’s Winter 2013 collection? The actress was very stirred: “It’s really beautiful and I was really touched because she said she was inspired by my own wedding when she saw such an easy-going bride”, she said.

The IIJW 2013 has just closed and we would like to share with you our best moments from the catwalk!
The event started on August 4 with the jewellery collection by co-sponsor Gitanjali Gems, worn by model and renowned actress Sonakshi Sinha. The Shuddhi Jewels collection included stunning Indian earrings and worked around the theme of earth, water, air and fire. We loved the fact that it was dedicated to the empowerment of women!
The Grand Finale was by PC Jewellers, who showcased a bridal jewellery line with many Indian earrings made of fine diamonds, kundan and polkis. These were beautiful sights for our eyes!

Fashion Week 2013 – Marchesa And Its Bollywood-esque Collection

It seems like Marchesa designers decided to make a bold move during this year’s Fashion Week in New York.
We were used to seing A-list celebrities wear their dreamy dresses on the red carpet, but they apparently moved aside from their fairytale inspiration.

For their fall collection,  Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman got influenced by “the spirit of India in the 1960s” and came up with embroidery, fringe and saree weaves for their evening gowns. The looks were very Bollywood-esque on the catwalk and didn’t leave the audience indifferent.

I will let you judge through these few pictures what you think of this change in style.
